Dawson City did not exist before 1896 but by 1898 it was the largest city in Western Canada with a population of 30,000 people. The Klondike Gold Rush was short-lived but Dawson City is alive and well. The same reasons that attracted thousands of people to Dawson during the gold rush lured me to the town nearly one hundred years later; adventure and the prospect of striking it rich After spending more than 17 years in the Klondike I can say that I have definitely had an adventure and am far richer for the experience. 'My Dawson City' is an attempt to present friends, and strangers with a glimpse at a very special place as seen through the lens of my camera. Enjoy. Jay Armitage |
